Pambling Roads~~Breathtaking
Montana
Better than I could
have ever imagined in my dreams…
Hardin, Montana
We stayed at the Rodeway Inn, which was a bit pricey for what we had but it was a nice stay. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. The continental breakfast was delicious and enjoyable. The employees were great, friendly, and courteous.
Little Big Horn
Battlefield National Monument
This was a must. Considering that I wrote, lived, and breathed the Little Bighorn Battle in the second book, I had to see it. I had to walk it, touch it, and breathe where the history I wrote about actually happened.
There is an entrance fee to the park and we also, (for an additional fee) took the guided bus Apsaalooke tour.
The Little Bighorn
Park has a national cemetery honoring all veterans of war, as well as Native
American veterans. The museum, visitor’s center, and store were definitely
worth visiting.
It is, in in my opinion, the last major battle found between the Lakota, Cheyenne and Arapaho. The narrated bus tour took us to the Reno-Benteen battlefield and around to Last Stand Hill (Custer). They stick with the facts and historical interpretations from the events leading up to the battle. Stones mark the area where the warriors and soldiers fell in battle.

Big Horn County
Historical Society Museum
We spent a few hours
visiting this museum in Hardin. There is a huge selection of artifacts and
photographs inside the museum/visitor center, as well as a multitude of
buildings (over 25), agricultural equipment, wagons, vehicles, and historical
information on the grounds. The young man who took care of us at the desk was
friendly and courteous. He answered our many questions and was very helpful.

Butte, Montana
We stayed at the Best Western in Butte. All was good as gold, as usual. We ate at the Perkins Restaurant multiple times. I was impressed. Way too many years ago (in the 80’s) I worked for Perkins for almost ten years and know exactly what they are supposed to do, etc. They were great!
Butte Montana has the
largest area of historical homes in the United States. It is obvious that they
are working hard to preserve and save their heritage and historical homes. A
person could spend a week exploring all the cultural and historical areas of
Butte.
After discovering the
town, we took a short drive a little farther west and my husband and I had the
honor to meet and visit with the incredible authors, Kat and Larry Martin. We
visited with them for a few hours and then headed back to our hotel. It was a
wonderful visit and we were thrilled to meet them.
Thank you for taking
the time to continue to read Pambling Roads. I appreciate the emails and
comments. I love to hear from readers.
